SUMMARY:Nature's Engineer: American Beavers
DESCRIPTION:Did you know that American Beavers are considered "ecosystem en
 gineers"? This is because beavers create dams to change streams into ponds
 . By changing the environment\, beavers create habitat for other animals. 
 They can also reduce the risks of flooding\, droughts\, and wildfires. Lea
 rn more about this semi-aquatic mammal and how they help freshwater habita
 ts. \nThis Science Saturday program will consist of an informational pres
 entation with an indoor activity\, followed by a nature walk to an active 
 beaver dam at Shaver’s Creek.  \nWe will meet in the Weidemann Booksto
 re and Gift Shop in our visitor center at the start of the program. All ag
 es\, families\, and individuals are welcome. Youth participants must be ac
 companied by an adult participant. Please dress appropriately for the weat
 her. Please be aware that masking is required during the indoor portion of
  this event.\nRegister\nRegistration is limited to 20 participants.\nThis 
 event is free and open to the public thanks to the generous support of Sh
 aver’s Creek members.
