SUMMARY:The Human Nature Series: Responsible Recreation
DESCRIPTION:Responsible Recreation\nIt’s no secret that some of our favor
ite outdoor spots are busier than ever during the lockdown. Many are filli
ng their time with their favorite outdoor recreation activities\, and many
more have picked up a new outdoor hobby. Join Dan Trew\, Adventure Coordi
nator for Clearwater Conservancy\, and Drew Lehnerd\, AURORA Assistant Dir
ector and Leave No Trace Master Educator\, as they share how we can safely
visit our favorite outdoor playgrounds while following social-distancing
restrictions.\nWe will meet via Zoom at this link: https://psu.zoom.us/j/9
6375497832\nZoom password: nature\nBy joining this session\, you agree to
appear on a live broadcast that may be recorded. You are not required to b
e visually present. We will also stream the event on our Facebook\, should
you prefer to watch that way.\nMeet the experts\n\nAn aerospace engineer
turned nature nerd\, Dan Trew graduated from Penn State and decided to sta
y local to be a part of the growing State College community — taking a t
ack of following his passions and not frowning at a computer all day. Dan
is an avid proponent of all things fun outside\; hiking in the encircling
state forests\, canoeing on world-class streams\, and rolling around in th
e snow pretending to cross-country ski are some of the many activities he
can be found doing. Equipped with a breadth of local outdoor knowledge and
a life spent out-of-doors\, Dan is the steward for growing the appreciati
on for and engagement in the local population for the natural resources Cl
earWater helps protect.\n\nDrew Lehnerd works to ensure that AURORA’s op
erations and staff development run smoothly. He believes strongly in the p
ower of outdoor recreation as a community building and leadership developm
ent tool and makes that belief a reality each day with AURORA. Drew also i
nstructs wilderness medicine and CPR courses in the Recreation\, Parks\, a
nd Tourism Management Department. He earned a B.S. in Human Geography from
Penn State in 2012. Drew is a Leave No Trace Master Educator\, SOLO Wilde
rness First Responder\, and an AASI certified snowboard instructor. He als
 o enjoys riding bicycles\, reading\, and learning new things.\nAbout the H
uman Nature Series\nShaver’s Creek has partnered with local businesses i
