SUMMARY:Wonderful Wood Turtles
DESCRIPTION:Did you know Wood Turtles will stomp on the ground to encourage
  worms to move to the surface and then eat them? Known for the distinct pa
 tterns on their shell\, Wood Turtles are considered a species of concern i
 n Pennsylvania. Learn more about this turtle and the current research bein
 g done at Penn State that monitors their population here at Shaver's Creek
 .  \nThis Science Saturday program will consist of an informational prese
 ntation\, an animal meet-and-greet with the Wood Turtle at the Litzinger H
 erpetarium\, and a nature walk to Wood Turtle habitat around Shaver's Cree
 k.   \nWe will meet in the Weidemann Bookstore and Gift Shop in our vis
 itor center at the start of the program. All ages\, families\, and individ
 uals are welcome. Youth participants must be accompanied by an adult parti
 cipant. Please dress appropriately for the weather. Please be aware that m
 asking is required during the indoor portion of this event.\nRegister\nReg
 istration is limited to 20 participants.\nThis event is free and open to t
 he public thanks to the generous support of Shaver’s Creek members.
