Shaver’s Creek has always been in my life. I came here as a camper and worked my way up through being an LIT and now a Naturalist! I have loved every moment of it!

I have always loved the outdoors and Shaver’s Creek has always been a big part of that. I started off as a camper at the Shaver’s Creek summer camp, and as I got older, I decided to volunteer as an LIT (Leader in Training) at the camp during the summer. I love spending time outside, and I believe this is why I decided to choose my major as Secondary Education Earth and Space Science. Learning more about what is around me and helping people have also become passions of mine. My freshman spring semester I signed up to be a counselor with the Outdoor School program that Shaver’s Creek offers at Camp Blue Diamond. I did this as well for the fall semester of my second year and it changed my life. I began to find even more of a passion for teaching, and I was breaking out of my shell. I went from shy and quiet to outgoing to the point where people are surprised that I used to not talk. I am excited to finish my education at Penn State and become a middle/high school science teacher.
