The world is full of wonder!!! How wonderful to teach, and in that experience see the world anew.

Years at Shaver’s Creek: 2023

Positions Held: Intern, Outdoor School, Summer Camp

Current Company/Organization: Seasonal Field Technician

I spend most of my time in Nevada working either as a park aid or as an assessment, integration and monitoring technician. This summer, I am hoping to broaden my horizons to small mammal AIM protocols in Alaska!

Because of Shaver’s Creek, I was able to trust myself and build my skills. I fell in love with plant and invertebrate ID in a way I had never thought possible, and now I get to use those skills everyday! Shaver’s was my first leap of faith into seasonal work. I had never moved for a job before. Seeing how people come together to make this place so special made me confident I could be a part of a community wherever I roam. I wouldn’t be where I am today without the wonderful mentorship I experienced here.

I have been fortunate enough to work across the West. But I will always fondly miss the campers’ joy in stream study and the frog choruses during Friday night walks. I am grateful that my never-ending journey to learn started here.
