I’m teaching 10th grade environmental science at a school for newcomers in the Springfield Public School District. I get to learn about the diverse environments of the places my students have been around the world as I teach (and learn alongside) about the environment of western Massachusetts. Just as I learned to do long ago at Shaver’s Creek, I encourage curiosity about the natural world in my classroom in hopes that students carry it with them long after 10th grade.
