The best time of my life!!!

My time at Shaver’s Creek, hands down, was the best time of my young adult life!!! The wisdom and care of the staff truly made it the most magical place I have ever worked, and I have been unable to find a replication of it since.
After my time at Shaver’s Creek, I interned at Newfound Harbor Marine Institute/Seacamp in the Florida keys before switching gears and getting my nursing degree. I worked as an RN in the operating room of a hospital for seven years (they didn’t call me “Safety” Smilax at the Creek for nothin’!). Now, I am raising a family with my husband, who was also an intern (Brian Taylor/Killdeer), and we met at the Creek! His rendition of the singing pumpkin at the Children’s Halloween Trail won me over.
Some of the most unexpectedly valuable skills from my time at the Creek are the team building games and activities and songs I learned from summer camps and Rock ‘N River. When I’m helping at my kids’ schools and activities, it’s great to pull that magic out of my back pocket on the fly!
