Woodward, Allie

Shaver’s Creek was always the highlight of my week, and I felt lucky to be part of a conservation center that gives its resident animals so much autonomy and enrichment while fostering meaningful connections between people, wildlife, and conservation.

Years at Shaver’s Creek: 2023–2024

Positions Held: Volunteer

Current Company/Organization: Cummings School of Veterinary Medicine at Tufts University

Volunteering at Shaver’s Creek played a huge role in shaping my path into veterinary medicine and conservation. Working closely with ambassador animals and learning from staff about wildlife conservation and public education inspired me to pursue a career supporting both animal health and environmental stewardship.

I am currently a veterinary student at the Cummings School of Veterinary Medicine at Tufts University. I’m involved in the Reptile and Amphibian Club, the Wildlife and Zoology Club, and working for the Office of Sustainability. My experiences at Shaver’s Creek strengthened my interest in wildlife medicine and conservation-focused veterinary work, and continue to influence how I think about animal welfare, enrichment, and human–wildlife coexistence today.
