Zellner, Wibke (Screech Owl)

At Shaver’s Creek, I have always endless opportunities to get to know and observe diverse creatures and plants. Connecting with nature brings me a great joy, always new discoveries, a sense of wonder and peace.

Years at Shaver’s Creek: 1995–1998

Positions Held: Intern, Summer Camp, Volunteer

Current Company/Organization: Freie Waldorfschule Diez, Germany

I have spent four great summers exploring the nature around Shaver’s Creek. Volunteering and working at Shaver’s Creek has created lasting friendships and I have visited Shaver’s Creek and continued my discoveries ever since and even brought my kids to camp. My youngest daughter has just been an LIT in the last two years and wants to come back this summer because she also likes it so much.

I am a teacher at a Waldorf school in Germany and have been there for twenty years. I am taking my students to the nearby forest a lot to do nature activities there. Most camp games made it into my English lessons. All the teambuilding improved my problem solving, communication, and listening skills.
