Shaver’s Creek 50th anniversary is approaching, and we’re looking for your help to design a special T-shirt for its celebration! No prior experience is required. Participants can submit only one design for the T-Shirt Design Contest, and it must be original and created by the participant.

Deadline to submit designs: Saturday, January 31, 2026, at 5:00 p.m. (ET)

Designs should reflect Shaver’s Creek and its connection to the natural world.
Consider drawing inspiration from one of Shaver’s Creek’s mottos:
- “Connecting people to people & people to nature.”
- “Never stop discovering!”
Designs are limited to TWO ink colors of your choice. You may consider using blank space to convey a third color (i.e., the t-shirt color).
Digital designs should be submitted as a PDF or EPS file.
Physical designs should be submitted on a clean, white sheet of paper no larger than 11″x17″.
Designs may not and shall not include any words, logos, trademarks, service marks, trademarked characters, or other intellectual property that is not the property of Participant.
AI-generated art will not be considered.

Shaver’s Creek 50th Anniversary T-Shirt Design Contest Guidelines and Rules*

Shaver’s Creek 50th anniversary is approaching, and we’re looking for your help to design a special T-shirt for its celebration! No prior experience is required.

Any individual (each such individual is hereinafter referred to as a “Participant”) who enters, attempts to enter, or in any way participates or attempts to participate in the Shaver’s Creek 50th Anniversary T-Shirt Design Contest (“Contest”) conducted by The Pennsylvania State University (“Penn State”) agrees to be bound by the terms and conditions provided in these Contest Guidelines and Rules (“Rules”), as well as by Penn State’s interpretations of these Rules, which are final and binding in all matters relating to this Contest. Any Participant under the age of 18 must have permission of their parent(s) or guardian(s) to enter the contest. By creating and submitting any T-Shirt Design for the aforementioned Contest, Participant hereby grants and assigns to Penn State all right, title and interest in and to any such T-Shirt Design and further acknowledges that any such T-Shirt Design shall and will forever be the sole property of Penn State. Participant hereby represents and warrants to Penn State that any T-Shirt Design submitted by Participant is original work created by Participant and that any such T-Shirt Design does not infringe on the intellectual property rights of any third party.

Eligibility. This contest is open to individuals, who are legal residents of the United States of America and if under the age of 18 have permission of their parent(s) or guardian(s) to enter the Contest and any Penn State student which includes undergraduates, graduate students, postdoctoral fellows, and other affiliates enrolled at Penn State, except that any employees within Shaver’s Creek and their immediate family members (and those living in the same household, whether or not related) are not eligible for the Contest. Immediate family members shall include spouses, siblings, parents, children, grandparents, and grandchildren, whether as “in-laws”, or by current or past marriage, remarriage, adoption, co-habitation, or other familial extension.

Submission. Each Participant can submit only one design for the T-shirt Contest (T-Shirt Design). A signed copy of the Shaver’s Creek 50th Anniversary T-Shirt Design Contest Guidelines and Rules must be provided along with the T-Shirt Design being submitted. The T-Shirt Design must be original and created by the Participant.

Submitting a digital design:
Note that AI-generated art will not be considered. Please submit your final design as a PDF or EPS file. PDF files can be uploaded in this form, but EPS files must be emailed to shaverscreek@psu.edu with the subject line “T-Shirt Design Contest Submission” or by replying to your confirmation email after submitting this form.

Submitting a physical design:
Physical designs may be submitted by using the Shaver’s Creek 50th Anniversary T-Shirt Design Contest Physical Submission Design Form (PDF) (or a separate sheet of white paper no larger than 11”x17”) to create your t-shirt design. Please be sure to include your full name, contact info, age, and student details (if applicable). You may return your final design along with a signed copy of the Shaver’s Creek 50th Anniversary T-Shirt Design Contest Guidelines and Rules in one of two ways:

Release and Limitation of Liability. By participating in the Contest, you hereby agree to release and hold harmless The Pennsylvania State University and its trustees, directors, officers, employees, agents, and representatives (“Released Parties”) from and against any and all claims or causes of action, including but not limited to claims or causes of action arising from third party claims of infringement, or Penn State’s own negligence and claims or causes of action for personal injury, death, or damage to or loss of property, arising out of participation in the Contest or the receipt, use, or misuse of any prize. By participating in the Contest, you also agree that you shall not be entitled in any circumstance to punitive, incidental, or consequential damages, or any other damages, including attorneys’ fees.

Consent, License and Release. Participant hereby grants an irrevocable, world-wide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license and right to Penn State to use, print, distribute, reproduce and publicly display my name, image, likeness, biographical information, and voice (collectively, “Likeness”), for any promotional, educational, informational, advertising or commercial purpose, in any materials and communications in any form now known or later developed, including but not limited to publications, websites, articles, brochures, books, magazines, newsletters, exhibits, videos, films, social media, advertisements, and training programs. All Participants (and parent or guardian) will grant ownership of copyright to their T-Shirt Design to Shaver’s Creek. In the event that any applicable law requires certain formalities to be fulfilled to effectuate such grant to rights, each participant (and parent or guardian) agrees to cooperate with Shaver’s Creek to achieve fulfillment of such formalities.

Selection of Winner. Each submission will be reviewed by a panel of volunteer Shaver Creek judges. The Shaver’s Creek Judges will evaluate entries individually and make final evaluations based upon originality and creativity, interpretation of the theme and overall visual impact. Participant’s names will not be attached to any entry during the review process. The winners will be notified by February 20, 2026.

Winners will be notified via their contact email provided. Winners will have their T-Shirt design printed. T-Shirts with the winning designs will be sold in the Weidemann Bookstore and Gift Shop with all proceeds going to Shaver’s Creek. Winning designs may be altered slightly when digitizing and preparing to print.

Reservation of Rights. Penn State reserves the right in its sole discretion to supplement or make changes to these Rules as well as the rules of any contest at any time without notice. Penn State reserves the right in its sole discretion to interpret the rules of any contest, and such interpretation shall be binding upon all Participants. If for any reason the Contest is not capable of running as planned, including without limitation lack of significant participation, tampering, unauthorized intervention, fraud, technical failures, or other causes which adversely affect the administration, security, fairness, integrity, or proper conduct of the Contest, Penn State reserves the right, at its sole discretion, to cancel, suspend and/or modify the Contest.
