Current Company/Organization: Oratory Prep School (NJ) – Coach & Science Teacher
I currently am a science teacher and track coach for middle school and high school students in New Jersey. It was at Shaver’s Creek (especially at Outdoor School) that I realized that I could see myself as a teacher. I still include some of the lessons I learned at Shavers Creek in my teaching, including taking my class to a local stream each year to perform a stream study. It is the highlight of class.
Shaver’s Creek instilled in me the importance of intentional community, that small actions can make a big difference, and that there is something extraordinary in the everyday. I am forever grateful to relationships and memories made during my two seasons as intern (August 2015–May 2016).
