The best way to spend my summers!
Years at Shaver’s Creek: 2014–2020
Positions Held: Leader in Training, Summer Camp
Current Company/Organization: PhD student
I grew up in State College attending summer camp as a kid, then in high school I volunteered as a LIT for 4 years (2014–2018) and then returned for 2 summers (2019 and 2020) as a counselor. Shaver’s Creek taught me leadership, organization, and collaboration skills that I still use today. Currently, I am a PhD student at the University of Maryland studying developmental psychology. My background at Shaver’s Creek working with children of all ages, lesson planning engaging and fun activities, and serving as a leader and mentor for LITs has allowed me to be a successful graduate student mentoring undergraduates and working with kids. I also gained great friends who I know I can always reach out to and connect with no matter how long ago its been since camp. I wouldn’t be who I am without Shaver’s Creek!
