McLaughlin, Sean (Fiddlehead)

Shaver’s Creek has been a through-line of my entire life; I could not have asked for a better community to grow up in.

Years at Shaver’s Creek: 2006–2026

Positions Held: Leader in Training, Summer Camp, Volunteer

Current Company/Organization: Hawk Ridge Bird Observatory

I have been coming to Shaver’s Creek my entire life (a brief 24 years), and I have had the honor to be a summer camper, Outdoor School student, LIT, naturalist, Eagle Scout, batter master, and flipper skipper. This community has given me both a home place and the diving board into the great big world.

Since leaving Summer Camp staff, I have worked seasonally across the country, and I currently lead the raptor migration counts at Hawk Ridge Bird Observatory in MN, and Whitefish Point Bird Observatory in MI. I have worked as a wildlife technician in Oregon and Minnesota and as an instructor at Hog Island Audubon Camp in Maine. I have still yet to miss a Maple Harvest Fest!
