Years at Shaver’s Creek: 2007–2010

Current Company/Organization: DCNR – Bureau of State Parks
I currently work as the State Park Region #4 manager (Eastern quarter of PA) for the Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and Natural Resources – Bureau of State Parks. After my internship at Shaver’s Creek, I spent a brief time as a whitewater raft guide at the NOC, fence contractor, and in telesales before my job with DCNR. As a State Park manager, I have worked at Promised Land State Park (Pike Co.), Varden Conservation Area (Wayne Co.), and Frances Slocum State Park (Luzerne Co.), and as the division manager for the Philadelphia Division (Greater Philadelphia Metro Area State Parks).
Shaver’s Creek prepared me for my current role because I was able to work in a highly functional team setting where everyone supported each other no matter what their role was. Whether it was the center director or a seasonal intern, everyone had an equally important function operationally and their opinion and thoughts mattered. Most importantly, I met and fell in love with another intern and we have been together since, now married 10 years (Jillian Meyer (Smilax)).
