Join Shaver’s Creek staff Alexa Sarussi for a free, in-person morning of nature journaling!

In March, we’ll meet at Millbrook Marsh to learn and journal about the recent streambank and riparian habitat restoration work that’s taken place along the creek. Jill Barskey of ClearWater Conservancy will share about the project, which is easily viewable from the nature center’s boardwalk.

ClearWater Conservancy and the US Fish and Wildlife Service (USFWS) partnered to carry out the project with the goal of enhancing habitat, stabilizing streambanks, creating vernal pools, replanting trees in the riparian zone, and creating woodcock habitat. The in-stream restoration and vernal pool creation was completed in two phases in 2024. In 2025, ClearWater Conservancy completed the riparian buffer planting with USFWS and Spring Creek Trout Unlimited volunteers.

All ages, families, and individuals are welcome. We encourage parents to bring children who express genuine interest in nature drawing, but ask that they monitor their behavior. Youth participants must be accompanied by an adult participant.
