Taylor, Kerry (Ladybug)

Shavers Creek has brought me so much more than just the tools to be an outdoor educator, it’s taught me how to authentically relate to others, to connect people to the outdoor world, and how to be in community.

Years at Shaver’s Creek: 2001–2018

Positions Held: Leader in Training, Outdoor School, Block/SEED Semester, Summer Camp

Current Company/Organization: Boojum Institute for Experiential Education, Juniper Sol Embodied Healing

I consider myself a lucky camper and was integrated into the community of Shaver’s Creek at an early age as a summer camper and niece to two formative members! I continued to stay connected as an LIT, Rock and River Counselor, ORION and AURORA leader and logistics member, and SEED student throughout my years in State College.

I wear many hats currently, most of which have been shaped in some way by my experience with Shaver’s Creek and many of the wonderful people I’ve had the pleasure of knowing and learning from during that time. I am an outdoor educator, expedition leader, integrative wellness facilitator, and small business owner.

I could go on and on about how my experiences and relationships at Shaver’s Creek have shaped the facilitator and person I am today but it boils down to a few words…authenticity, passion, connection, and community. I’d like to say I continue to bring these elements into all that I do and I am so grateful for Shaver’s Creek where so much of it began for me!
