From running around in the creek with 5th graders to now doing it all over again with 7th graders, Shaver’s Creek has helped immensely with my confidence to just go out and try things. Alexa and countless others prepared me for my interview with South County Middle School and gave me the experience to excel in a classroom environment.
I’m very grateful to have won “New Teacher of The Year” at my school… which was undoubtedly influenced by my insistence at taking students outside and playing Oh Deer and by talking their ears off about Matilda the Vulture and the importance of minimizing rodenticides.
The joy I experienced at Shaver’s Creek is the joy I try to pass onto my students each day.
