Graham, Autumn (Grizzly / Breeze)

Shaver’s Creek taught me that Earth is a magical place filled with possibility and that we are here to play with those possibilities. I will be forever grateful to have spent sweet time wrapped in its beauty.

Years at Shaver’s Creek: 2017–2026

Positions Held: Outdoor School, Volunteer, Aurora Participant, Outdoor School Counselor, BISC3 Course Assistant, Maple Harvest Festival Volunteer

Current Company/Organization: Shaver’s Creek Environmental Center

I am proud to have worked at Shaver’s Creek Environmental Center for three beautiful years. During this time, I have learned exponentially about the natural world, people, and myself. Most of my time has been spent with the lovely Jen Anderson, who modeled the importance of leading with a compassionate and co-creative nature. She is a beacon of light for future generations and I am grateful for all of the time with her, listening to her articulate how to fall in love with the world, as well as her patience and trust as I experimented with being. When I go in to work, I am inspired by everybody who is there. They are the most encouraging and supportive coworkers I have ever come across. Their character inspires me to form the lessons that we teach in the BISC3 curriculum. I end with a quote by Robert Thurman, cited in Chris Uhl’s last book, Awaken 101. It summarizes what this workplace has taught me to inspire in others, “Don’t ask what the world needs. Ask what makes you come alive and go do that. Because what the world needs is people who have come alive.”
