Years at Shaver’s Creek: 1991–1994

I credit my family, especially my grandmothers, to instilling my love of nature and the outdoors, but I would not be where I am now without Shaver’s Creek. I gained the fundamentals and confidence needed to help me connect others with the outdoors. It opened doors for internships in Vermont, Michigan, Indiana, and Nebraska. My first full-time naturalist position was in New Orleans and then I moved to northwest Iowa, where we focus on the flora and fauna of the Loess Hills. I hope I have been an inspiration to our interns, like the staff of SCEC were for me.
