Join us for an informative and engaging presentation about the life history and conservation of the monarch butterfly, followed by a tagging demonstration and release of one of these enchanting creatures.
Learn about the life cycle of the monarch butterfly, starting with its emergence from an egg no larger than a sesame seed, then its manic eating and growing larval stage, then the mysterious black box of the chrysalis, and finally its journey as far as 1500 miles to reach their overwintering grounds in Mexico. Discover how volunteer citizen scientists are revealing some of the mysteries of this spectacular multi-generational migration through the application of adhesive tags used in tracking monarch movements.
