Prepare for Your Visit

Zero Waste Facility

As a visitor, you do make a difference and can help us achieve our goal of becoming a Zero Waste facility. Visit our Zero Waste Initiative page to learn how to prepare for your visit.

Shaver’s Creek encourages persons with disabilities to participate in its programs. If you anticipate needing special accommodations or have questions about the physical access provided, please contact us at 814-863-2000 or before your participation.

Group Visits

Groups of 12 or more require advanced scheduling and a nominal fee.

Note to Pet Owners

Dogs are prohibited in the Raptor Aviary at Shaver’s Creek to protect the well-being of our resident birds. Additionally, due to the possibility of a blue-green alga growing in Lake Perez that is toxic and potentially fatal to animals, pets are prohibited on the grounds of Stone Valley Recreation Area.

Science Projects and Removing Wildlife from the Water

If you are considering an unguided science project in or around Shaver’s Creek, please note the Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission’s regulations and permits for the taking of aquatic species. The Commonwealth typically requires collectors’ permits for such projects.
