Opening Day Hike

Kick off Shaver’s Creek’s milestone year with naturalist-led hikes for all ages followed by games, snacks, and hot cocoa by the fire.

Register to attend

Hikes will begin at 1:00 p.m. from Stone Valley Recreation Area boat launch. Guided hike options will include routes suitable for children as well as adults. Children must be supervised by a parent or guardian during all hikes.

Hikes will end at Shaver’s Creek for hot cocoa and games indoors. The event will wrap up at 4:00 p.m. to allow plenty of time for the short walk back to Stone Valley before the sun goes down.

Please bring water and be sure to dress for the weather, including proper footwear.

Please note: Our parking lot is currently under construction. All visitors should park at the Stone Valley Recreation Area boat launch, where Shaver’s Creek staff will meet you for the hike. Visitors needing ADA parking should contact our front desk at 814-863-2000 for more details.
