Science Projects and Removing Wildlife from the Water
If you are considering an unguided science project in or around Shaver’s Creek, please note the Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission’s regulations and permits for the taking of aquatic species. The Commonwealth typically requires collectors’ permits for such projects.
Smoking and Tobacco Policy
(From Penn State Policy AD 32) Smoking and the use of tobacco are prohibited in and on all University owned or leased properties, facilities, and vehicles. The policy includes all University locations. The following purposes are exempted:
- Research
- Cultural and religious uses
Alcohol Policy
(From Penn State Policy AD18) The possession, use, distribution, and sale of Alcoholic Beverages is prohibited upon the property of The Pennsylvania State University unless specifically authorized in accordance with this Policy. Where such possession, use, distribution and/or sale is authorized, strict compliance with the laws of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania is required.
Pet Policy
To protect the well-being of our resident birds, dogs are prohibited in the Klingsberg Aviary at Shaver’s Creek.
Dogs are only permitted on trails during daytime and must be kept on a six-foot leash. Owners must clean up after pets by placing all pet waste in the appropriate receptacles. For the safety and health of your animals, Campus Recreation recommends you do not allow your animals to swim in or drink the water out of Lake Perez.
