We need people power!

Join Shavers Creek Environmental Center in celebrating Earth Day by being outside and getting your hands dirty!
This year’s Earth Day Work Day runs from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, April 14. Our Raptor Center renovation project is complete and there are several projects available to spruce up the grounds and trails.

  • Spreading wood chips on footpaths in the Raptor Center
  • Building and mulching plant beds for summer planting
  • Planting shrubs and small trees around the grounds
  • Installing split-rail fencing in the Raptor Center
  • and so much more…

Work gloves and tools will be provided, but if you have your own gloves or a favorite trowel, feel free to bring
them along. Please dress appropriately for working outside and for getting dirty. Also, you must wear closed-toed shoes! Bring rain gear and a water bottle too.

There will be a variety of projects for all levels of age and skill. Available projects may change prior to the
event based on materials, necessity, weather and time. We will do our best to make sure that we match the right
people for the right job and that everyone has a positive and productive experience. We are asking for a minimum of a two-hour shift, but you may sign up for additional hours. Simply fill out additional time slots for the time you wish to help.

Food and beverages are provided throughout the day so that we keep your energy up but also to say thank
you for all of your hard work.

Go to the 2019 Earth Day Work Day Registration and sign up with your name, email address, any additional
friends or family members coming along, any dietary needs for the food we provide, and the hours that you are able
to volunteer. Please register by Monday, April 8, 2019.

If you have questions, please contact Brian Sedgwick at 814-865-4005 or bjs192@psu.edu.
