With Shaver’s Creek’s awesome camps, exciting raptor center, and wonderful meandering trails, one never has to look too hard to find work that needs doing. We interns have been creating and executing games, lessons, and crafts for the camp groups, caring for the birds of prey, and maintaining trails for the trail steward competition.
I can assure you that this competition is no joke. At stake is a professional wrestling-style belt and bragging rights for a week. Today, Sheryl (aka Tanager) and I set out to maintain our assigned trail, which is the Sugar Shack trail. Check out the pictures to see all the fun work we did, which included cutting down low branches, using a swizzle stick to cut away grass and other underbrush, and the arduous, yet necessary, task of raking.
Also, be sure to come out to Shaver’s Creek and walk the beautiful Sugar Shack trail!
