Fall Into Kids Corner

If you haven’t joined us for Kid’s Corner yet, you still have the chance to join the fun! Kids Corner is a free two-hour program for toddlers and pre-K children with accompanying adults. This season we are learning all about patterns. There are all kinds of patterns in nature.

So far we’ve learned about texture, color, and weather patterns. This week, join us on Wednesday, December 3, from 10 a.m.–12:00 p.m. for crafts, games, and songs about the patterns of seasons. Next Wednesday, December 10, is our last Kid’s Corner for the fall, so we hope you can make it out to finish off an amazing season!

If you missed the last few weeks of Kid’s Corner, you can enjoy some of our activities at home:

Leaf Rubbing: Go exploring outside and find some interesting looking leaves to use for this craft. Place the leaf on a hard surface and lay a piece of paper over the leaf. Using the long side of a crayon, press down and rub the paper over the leaf. The texture pattern will be revealed!

Snowflakes: This classic winter craft is fun no matter your age. Fold a square piece of paper in half and then in half again. Using scissors, cut out small shapes from the corners and edges of the folded paper. Unfold the paper to hang up your beautifully unique snowflake.

Even though it’s getting cold outside, there is still plenty to discover. Bundle up and go out to explore nature. Are there any patterns that you can find? Share your observations with us, and any photos you might take, on the Shaver’s Creek Facebook Page!
