To change the way we see nature today is to secure its conservation for the generation of tomorrow
Years at Shaver’s Creek: 2021
Positions Held: Intern, Conservation Interpreter
Current Company/Organization: Independent educator
Since my time as an intern and conservation interpreter at Shaver’s Creek, my mission has remained the same, to change the way we see nature today and secure its conservation for the generation of tomorrow.
Shaver’s Creek was where I learned to translate ecological needs into engaging education for guests and students. Today, I’m putting those skills to work in Colorado. From working at local nature centers to my role in teaching natural sciences, I’ve spent the past four years showing students the beauty of native wildlife and plants. By partnering with state and national parks, I have been able to further my own professional development while providing my students with hands-on experiences.
One of my favorite memories was planting a flower garden with my students. Seeing them nurture a living thing through the education program and then take seeds home to teach their own families reminded me why I do this work. Now, I am an independent educator and curriculum developer specializing in science homeschool instruction. I am grateful to Shaver’s Creek for preparing me to inspire the next generation of conservationists.
