Can’t make it to this year’s Maple Harvest Festival? Here’s a chance to learn about maple sugaring in a more casual setting!

Join Shaver’s Creek staff for a stroll to the Sugar Shack. Along the way, you’ll learn:

  • The history of maple sugaring
  • How to ID a sugar maple tree
  • How to tap maple trees
  • Different sap collection methods
  • How to turn sap into syrup

Please note that this program is different from the Maple Harvest Festival, which is sold out for this year. Tasting syrup will not be a part of this program.

This program is free and fun for all ages. Registration is required in advance. Please dress for the weather.

Parking: Because Shaver’s Creek is still undergoing construction, visitors will need to park at the Stone Valley Recreation Area boat launch and take the 10–15 minute walk along the trails to reach the Shaver’s Creek visitor center. Visitors needing ADA parking should contact Shaver’s Creek in advance at 814-863-2000.
