While we’ve cozied up in our homes this winter, the forest has been alive in (and underneath) the blankets of snow! Join Shaver’s Creek naturalists for three weekends in February to explore a snowy forest and some of the ways our local wildlife thrives in a winter wonderland.
We’ll learn all about the basics of wildlife tracking and the subnivean zone (the habitat beneath the snow). We’ll also explore the different ways that snow is used around the world and how some animals rely on snow for survival. If snow is on the ground, we’ll then head out to the trails and practice our wildlife tracking skills in real time. Be sure to dress for the weather!
Kids of all ages are welcome in this program with adult supervision. This program is free thanks to the generous support of Shaver’s Creek members.
