Join Shaver’s Creek staff Alexa Sarussi for a free, in-person, and socially distanced morning of nature journaling. This month’s Community Nature Journaling focus will be… The Art of Haiku!

Join us to learn how to incorporate the art of haiku into your nature journal practice with guest Ian Marshall. Ian Marshall is a professor emeritus of English and Environmental Studies at Penn State Altoona, and the author of Border Crossings: Walking the Haiku Path on the International Appalachian Trail and Walden by Haiku. He is also a contributor to Shaver’s Creek’s Long-Term Ecological Project!

This session will introduce participants to diverse nature journaling techniques while exploring Shaver’s Creek. It will culminate with sharing our learnings and reflecting together. All ages, families, and individuals are welcome. We encourage parents to bring children who express genuine interest in nature drawing and to monitor their behavior. Youth participants must be accompanied by an adult participant.
