Join special guests Joshua Trey Barnett, Talley V. Kayser, and Ian Marshall as they present their work around the topic of ecological mourning, followed by an opportunity to engage in a discussion about our ecological state as it is right now.

Joshua Trey Barnett is the author of the forthcoming book, Mourning in the Anthropocene: Ecological Grief and Earthly Coexistence (Michigan State University Press). He is an assistant professor in the Department of Communication Arts and Sciences at Penn State, where he holds a joint appointment at the Huck Institutes of the Life Sciences.

Talley V. Kayser teaches The Adventure Literature Series, a range of college courses that combine literary study with outdoor expeditions, at Penn State. Her poetry and nonfiction examine the entangled relationships — mournful and otherwise — among humans, other species, and the places we share.

A former president of the Association for the Study of Literature and Environment, Ian Marshall is a recently retired professor emeritus of English and environmental studies at Penn State Altoona. He is the author of four books of literary ecocriticism and a collection of poems, and the editor of Reading Shaver’s Creek: Ecological Reflections from an Appalachian Forest.
