
Join us to explore all that Shaver’s Creek has to offer. Stop by any time to meet the resident wildlife in the Litzinger Herpetarium, explore new exhibits in the Silvi Classroom, and help us create fun enrichment items for our resident birds of prey in the Klingsberg Aviary. We’ve also got some scheduled activities that you won’t want to miss.

Nature JournalingRegistration required (space is limited) This session will introduce participants to an array of nature journaling techniques, and it will culminate with sharing our learnings and reflecting together. All ages, families, and individuals are welcome. Please note: Participants should bring a journal or notebook, a pencil, a pen, and coloring utensils of your choosing (colored pencils, watercolor, markers, crayons). |

Autumn Adventuring Discover what is happening in the natural world this fall as Merlin guides a tour to the boardwalk and twin bridges, exploring and investigating the changes of the season. |

Crayfish Quest Come meet a crayfish! Join us for a stream study with a focus on crayfish that can be found at Shaver’s Creek. Please note: Closed-toed shoes are required for any water-study activities at Shaver’s Creek. Water temperatures will be cold. If it is a nice day and you (or your family) would like to wade into the water, please consider bringing a change of shoes/socks/clothes. |

Monarchs and More Craft Although the migration of the Monarch Butterfly in Pennsylvania will soon come to an end, the 1500-mile journey to their wintering grounds in Mexico is continuing. Join Shaver’s Creek staff to learn about the importance of the winter grounds for Monarchs and how these tiny butterflies survive the long journey through winter and their return to the northern breeding grounds in the spring. Visitors will have an opportunity to create a Monarch craft to take home and to assist in a Shaver’s Creek display. |

Project Feeder Watch Information Session Becoming involved in something as simple as recording birds at your bird feeders over the winter can play an important role in tracking long-term trends in distribution and abundance of birds. Join Shaver’s Creek staff to learn how you can set up a feeding station at your home and get started with a Citizen Science project. |
