Join Shaver’s Creek staff Alexa Sarussi for a free workshop with local watercolor artisan Zoelie Rivera-Ocasio, founder of Zoils and Pigments. We’ll go for a short walk to collect soil, and then Zoelie will guide us through the process of creating earth-based watercolors. Bring bottle caps, nut shells, or other small objects to take your pigments home!
Note that this workshop will run 30 minutes longer than usual. Bring a packed lunch for an optional picnic after our formal program time for more community-building and connection.
This session will introduce participants to diverse nature journaling techniques. It will culminate with sharing our learnings and reflecting together. All ages, families, and individuals are welcome. We encourage parents to bring children who express genuine interest in nature drawing and to monitor their behavior. Youth participants must be accompanied by an adult participant.
