Community Nature Journaling

Join Shaver’s Creek staff Alexa Sarussi for a free, in-person, and socially distanced morning of nature journaling. August’s Community Nature Journaling focus will be… Milkweed, Monarchs and More!

Early fall is a great time to explore Shaver’s Creek’s milkweed patch and meadow! Jon Kauffman, our Citizen Science Coordinator, will share information about monitoring monarchs, and participants may even have a chance to tag and release butterflies! Join our growing nature journaling community to draw and write about these seasonal visitors as they prepare for a 3,000 mile migration to southwestern Mexico this fall.

This session will introduce participants to diverse nature journaling techniques while exploring Shaver’s Creek. It will culminate with sharing our learnings and reflecting together. All ages, families, and individuals are welcome. We encourage parents to bring children who express genuine interest in nature drawing and to monitor their behavior. Youth participants must be accompanied by an adult participant.

Registration is capped at 20 participants.

This event is free and open to the public thanks to the generous support of Shaver’s Creek members.
